Westmount Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of Westmount (Oshawa)

Meets Thursdays @ 12:10 p.m.
Centennial Albert United Church

Westmount is one of three Kiwanis Clubs in Oshawa.  Westmount is referred to as “the Fun Club” because of the club’s successful reputation of combining service work with very active social activities.   This balance of fun and service has been responsible for maintaining an enthusiastic membership over many decades.  An example of this fun and service is “the Westmount Wanderers” a musical variety group of 12 members who present regular shows at nursing and retirement homes, hospitals and as a fund raising attraction for various religious organizations.

Historically, Westmount has been the major financial contributor to the Oshawa Whitby Kiwanis Music Festival over the years.   Westmount is also the founder of the Kiwanis Food Drive, now directed at Simcoe Hall Food Bank, as well as dozens of other children related programs, including a literacy program at Village Union School where club members work every week, one of one, with young students helping to improve their reading skills .

Club activities are reported every week with the colourful “Window on Westmount”.  This club bulletin has won several international awards for previous bulletin editor Erna Taylor. The bulletin is currently edited by Ted Curl.
