Ensemble Classes For Brass, Woodwinds & Percussion

NOTE: No special references to rules are included in this Section of Classes.

** The Board of the Music Festival reserves the right to cancel any classes if the number of entries in these classes are insufficient. Applicant fees will be returned in full.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PARTICIPANT TO READ THE RULES AND REGULATIONS AND TO ENTER THE CORRECT CLASS. IN ADDITION TO THE RULES AND REGULATIONS LISTED AT THE FRONT OF THE SYLLABUS, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD AQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH THE CLASSIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW.

Ensembles are open to students studying with a private teacher or within the Elementary and Secondary school system. No member of the group may enter a class which is lower than their appropriate level. Teachers are to select the appropriate level according to the following classifications.

ELEMENTARY - Open to students attending an Elementary school.
Level One - 1 year or less of playing experience.
Level Two - 2 years or less of playing experience.
Level Three - 3 years or less of playing experience.

SECONDARY - Open to students attending a Secondary school.
Level One - 1 year or less of playing experience.
Level Two - 2 years or less of playing experience.
Level Three - 3 years or less of playing experience.
Level Four - 4 years or less of playing experience.
Level Five - 5 years or less of playing experience.
Open - Over five years of playing experience.

Music for all classes is "Competitor's own choice". ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE ORIGINAL MUSIC FOR THE ADJUDICATOR. "Open Class" participants must select music which requires the performers to play technical and melodic material at an advanced level. Conducting is not permitted except for Ensembles of 6 or more players. Please specify instruments being played on Entry Form for ENSEMBLE & GROUPS.

Instrumental Ensembles

Please indicate level of playing experience of Ensemble on entry form. This class will be divided according to level of playing experience.
